Mike Kuiper, Dive Base Leader

Mike is joining the staff at Traders' Ridge Dive Center after a long desire of 18 years to come live his dream of diving in Yap . Before he spent 6 years in the Maldives, 1 year in Spain, 6 months in the Caribbean, 3 months in Egypt as well as his first dive destination, The Netherlands. He is a PADI, IDC Staff Instructor with over 5,000+ dives. He was Base Leader and Assistant Base Leader for multiple islands in the Maldives . His utmost concern, after 25 years as a life guard on the North Sea Beaches, is guest safety so you can relax and enjoy your valet diving experience with us.

Since joining us he has been amazed with the Grey Reef Sharks and their behavior at shallow depths. He looks forward to helping you explore his favorite dive sites of Yap Caverns and Vertigo.

He brings his favorite PADI Specializations of Manta and Sharks to an area that specializes in these species. He looks forward to helping you realize your life long dream of Manta and Shark encounters here in Yap . If you have ever dreamed about diving with Mantas and Sharks to really enhance this experience he will help you learn the intricacies of the individual behaviors, characteristics and love for these species and become a PADI Manta Awareness and Shark Diver.

He is more than happy to greet you in fluent English, German or his mother tongue of Dutch. Of course for a great conversation you could ask him about his personal love of navigation and his experiences of this in many different bodies of water.
